NECS Cleaning Raises £2,500 for Marie Curie

A core value for NECS is our commitment to the local community, which is why we’re delighted to share that through a number of fundraising events, we were able to raise a total of £2,500 for Marie Curie in Newcastle.

Our decision for Marie Curie to be the recipient of our charity efforts followed the passing of the father of one of our company directors. The truly exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided is what drove us to raise our donation throughout the year, namely the NECS Golf Day.

Hosted at Close House in Headon-on-the-Wall on the 11th June, 24 golfers were in attendance for a full 18 hole on the Championship Colt course, complete with breakfast and a 2-course meal after the round. The day featured a competition for the best individual score and one for teams, as well as a raffle to raise donations for the cause. Through the generosity of those in attendance, the event raised over £600.

Alongside family donations, and fundraising at a Curry Night held locally by a close family friend Gavin Wales, from which he was able to contribute £400, NECS then rounded up to the £2500 figure.

Gary, Leigh, and Jake from NECS paid a visit to the Newcastle centre to present the cheque in person, meet the team, and thank them for their continued, outstanding work.

Gary Breach, Founder and Managing Director of NECS, expressed his appreciation for Marie Curie and the whole team in Newcastle:

“Saying goodbye to someone who means the world to you is the most indescribable feeling, but knowing that they’re receiving the utmost care and attention in their final days lifts so much of the weight. That’s the difference that Marie Curie makes with their nurses and hospices.

“Being able to meet their team, give them our donation, and tell them personally how much their work has been so impactful and important to so many people throughout the region. Especially during the most difficult period in the lives of many. They’re an exceptional outfit and I cannot praise them enough.”

Megan Davis, Community Fundraiser for the North England Marie Curie team, outlined just how important donations like these are: “This amount of donations translates to 108 hours of nursing care, which allows patients to be cared for in their homes or at the hospice in Newcastle.

“Marie Curie nurses work night and day in people’s homes and in our eight hospices, helping them feel safe and supported, whilst our online information and free support line help people feel reassured in their hour of need. [NECS] support makes all the difference.”

Plans are already in the works to run another fundraising golf day again next June, which we will announce more details of in the future. If you’re interested in donating to Marie Curie to support their work, you can directly through their website.
