Gary Breach Achieves Certified IWFM Membership Through Experiential Route

NECS is proud to announce that Gary Breach has achieved Certified Membership of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). The CIWFM designation is a recognised professional benchmark within the UK workplace and facilities management industry. Professionals who achieve this level of membership have demonstrated significant industry experience, leadership capability, and professional competence within their field.

IWFM membership has four levels that you can be recognised at:

  • AIWFM: Associate
  • MIWFM: Member
  • CIWFM: Certified
  • FIWFM: Fellow

The Certified status allows professionals within the industry to add CIWFN post-nominally like an OBE or PhD, as recognition that they’re experienced practitioners at a strategic and managerial level within workplace and facilities management.

The Path to Certification

Gary achieved this certification through the IWFM Experiential Route, an alternative pathway introduced in September 2024. The route was developed to recognise experienced professionals who have built their expertise through hands-on industry experience rather than formal academic qualifications alone.

Through the Experiential Route, it shows that Gary’s real-world operational knowledge and leadership, combined with proven competency, has earned him the Certified level, with a detailed portfolio to meet the Professional Standards as outlined by the IWFM. This pathway was designed with senior professionals in mind, particularly with a long history of both practical experience and managerial responsibilities, usually requiring three years of experience within a relevant industry, and an additional two years in management.

The achievement is not just a personal recognition of his work within the industry, but a defining moment for the standards NECS is built on, particularly as the commercial cleaning sector continues to grow and potential partners look for trusted, recognised professionals.

By achieving Certified IWFM status, Gary joins a growing community of professionals recognised for their ability to lead within this evolving landscape.
