What is the Breaking Barriers Bursary?
This bursary provides financial support to selected young people who have a parent or legal guardian working within the British cleaning industry and are entering Higher Education in Autumn 2026.
Successful applicants will receive £5,000 per year paid across each academic term for students studying any degree subject at all universities throughout the country. This is open to all applicants between the ages of 18 to 25 with the goal to relieve some of the pressure and stress of the financial burden that comes with higher education.
The key criteria that applications will be assessed around will be the financial need and position of the student, the worthiness of the applicant, endeavour, and overall performance. The best candidates will be selected and will receive the bursary.
Leigh Breach expressed the importance of bursaries like this one:
“This is a fantastic way of supporting the families within our incredible industry. We want this to be shared with as many people within the wider cleaning sector as possible, as the wider the reach, the greater impact it will be able to make.
University is a time for young people to not only devote themselves to furthering their education, but also a chance to learn more about themselves in a brand new environment. This bursary helps to alleviate some of the strain that’s put on students financially so they can focus more on their studies and enjoy the full university experience.”
