It often seems as if there is a brand new cleaning product every week. However, there is a product you likely already have in your kitchen that can clean almost every surface of your home and its white vinegar. It might not deliver the scent of a spring meadow but make no mistake vinegar is an incredibly versatile cleaning product. It can easily clean mildew, kill bacteria, and scrub away grime, and it’s safe to use on quite a wide variety of household surfaces. So let us take a look at some on cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, living room, and more with just white vinegar.

Kitchen Cleaning With Vinegar

The Fridge

Its always good to avoid using chemical sprays around areas where you keep your food. Cleaning refrigerator surfaces with white vinegar can avoid this and still deliver excellent results. Try cleaning up spills with a cloth and vinegar cleaning solution made up of equal parts vinegar and water.

Chopping board

White vinegar is excellent for cleaning chopping boards. Use a spray to cover the surface with straight vinegar, then rinse to clean.

Microwave

Cleaning the microwave with white vinegar doesn’t need to be difficult, and I’m sure we have all seen the Angry Mama microwave cleaner? You can remove burnt in microwave splatters and stains by simply placing 100ml vinegar and 100ml water in a glass bowl. Microwave 2-3 minutes, or until it boils and steams, this should soften the stains then wipe away buildup with ease. No Angry Mama needed.

Worktops

Add the vinegar to an empty household spray. Then spray the vinegar onto the surface and wipe clean with a warm wet cloth. However, don’t use vinegar if you have a granite or marble surface.

Bathroom Cleaning With Vinegar

White vinegar makes quick work of cleaning most bathroom surfaces. Try our top uses for white vinegar in and around the bathroom, including cleaning tile surfaces. You can use straight or a diluted vinegar cleaning solution for the bathroom to clean bacteria, especially around the toilet.

Toilet

Cleaning with a mixture of baking soda and vinegar in the bathroom can work really well. To clean your toilet with vinegar, pour a cup of vinegar in the toilet bowl and let sit overnight. The next morning, sprinkle a little baking soda into the bowl, scrub, and then flush clean.

Sink Or Bath Drain

To clean the area around your bathroom drains, pour 100ml distilled white vinegar around the closed drain and leave for a few hours. Then scrub to remove buildup easily. Drain, then rinse.

Shower

Cleaning your shower with vinegar is a breeze. Bring vinegar to a boil, then use the warm vinegar to wipe down your door and walls. Keep them wet by wiping them down every 5 minutes for about 30 minutes. Then, dampen a non-scratch sponge or cloth in vinegar, sprinkle with a little baking soda, and scrub. Rinse to wash away germs, mould, water spots, and any scum.

Showerhead

Firstly, pour some vinegar into a plastic bag, and fix it to your showerhead with an elastic band. Make sure there’s enough vinegar, so the main head is fully submerged. Leave the bag on the head overnight. Remove the next morning just before showering and rinse.

Tile surfaces

To clean your bathroom tile surfaces with vinegar, use a mix of 100ml white distilled vinegar with around 3 litres of warm water. Use to mop bathroom floors or scrub sink tops with the solution and allow to air dry. Easy!

How to Do Laundry with Vinegar

Detergent boost

Using vinegar in your laundry is a great way to protect colours and remove excess detergent residue. To set colours and reduce fading, wash coloured towels and clothing with about half the normal amount of detergent plus around 100 to 200ml of white vinegar.

How to Clean Everyday Objects with Vinegar

In a world where everyone wants to be a bit more eco friendly, you can make your homemade cleaning products quite cheap with vinegar and other natural products. Cleaning your household surfaces with white vinegar is both cost-effective and green.

Air freshener

Here is an alternative to chemicals with a natural air freshener. Try adding a 1/2-tsp. of Vinegar to a 100ml spray bottle, then fill with distilled water, plus a few drops of your favourite essential oil, if you have them.

Window cleaner

Mix 25ml rubbing alcohol and 40ml vinegar in a 1-litre spray bottle, then top up with water. Lightly spray on a lint-free cloth to clean windows, streak-free.

All-purpose cleaner

Mix 200ml vinegar with 400ml water, 2 tsp. Borax, 5 drops liquid dish soap, 10 drops tea tree oil, and 10 drops of your favourite essential oil (optional).

Disinfectant

Use a 50-50 vinegar-water mix to wipe down phones, doorknobs, tap handles, and more when cold and flu season hits.
